About the role#
The ASPCA is seeking a Veterinary Student Ambassador at the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. This part-time, paid position connects you with peers and professionals in animal welfare. You will serve as a representative on campus, helping to build awareness of ASPCA initiatives, externships, and student resources. This role requires the ability to work independently while maintaining your focus on academic excellence.
What you'll do#
- Represent the ASPCA at the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.
- Build and nurture relationships with fellow students and campus groups.
- Act as a resource for students interested in the work of the ASPCA and career pathways.
- Serve as a liaison for campus events and assist with logistical planning for workshops, presentations, and career fairs.
- Present opportunities to student groups to foster engagement.
- Develop written communications to share information about the organization and upcoming events.
- Stay informed about ASPCA externship opportunities and educational resources.
- Maintain your academic standing and follow all school policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a veterinary medical student at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.
- Good academic standing.
- Active membership in at least one student group related to animal welfare or the core work of the ASPCA.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to dedicate an average of 3 hours per week to this role.
- Access to a computer for virtual meetings and email.
- Ability to store promotional items temporarily for campus distribution.
- A strong belief in the mission and core values of the ASPCA.
- High level of maturity and professionalism.
- You must not currently serve as a student ambassador for another animal welfare organization or non-profit.
Location & details#
- This position is remote.
- Compensation is $20 per hour, with an average commitment of 3 hours per week.
- The term is two semesters with the potential to extend.
- You are eligible for up to $1,000 in reimbursement for travel, lodging, and food costs when attending the annual SAVMA Symposium.
