About the role#
We are looking for an intern to join our source research team in San Diego. You will help develop technologies for next-generation high-power extreme ultraviolet light sources. The role focuses on the droplet generation process, which provides the fuel for laser-produced plasma. You will work on defining the architecture for these systems by combining physics, engineering, and materials science.
What you'll do#
- Identify scientific learning objectives and design experiments to advance the EUV generation process.
- Develop and run performance tests for systems and subsystems.
- Analyze test results to extract actionable knowledge.
- Troubleshoot tin delivery subsystems, ultra-high vacuum systems, and optical modules.
- Document your findings and share them with engineering and product development teams.
- Work both independently and with team members to meet project goals.
What you'll need#
- An ongoing PhD or MS degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
- A deep understanding of scientific methods for experimental design and execution.
- Experience with designing a DOE and building experimental test setups.
- Background in rapid prototyping, metrology selection, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of microfluidics, liquid jet breakup, droplet coalescence, piezoelectricity, or acoustics.
- Ability to manage research projects and communicate ideas clearly.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in San Diego, California.
- The position follows a rolling term schedule.
