About the role#
The Student Worker, Payroll assists the payroll, health, welfare, and pension departments with daily activities. You will help process compensation for employees and manage benefit contributions. This is a part-time position averaging fewer than 30 hours per week, with typical hours between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
What you'll do#
- Index driving logs, tax withholding forms, and direct deposit authorizations.
- Organize and distribute office mail and faxes.
- Package payroll checks and timecards for shipment to terminals.
- Receive, log, and file incoming timecards.
- Maintain spreadsheets for payroll specialist assignments and analyze data as needed.
- Prepare labels for yearly Health, Welfare, and Pension Fund folders.
- Route payroll advices to the correct departments.
- Manage records for Transfer Storage Requests and prepare payroll data for warehouse storage.
- Perform general office tasks including filing, copying, and shredding confidential documents.
- Work within a team environment to meet department goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program, preferably in Business or Accounting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
- Experience using a 10-key pad.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems.
