About the role#
The Lead Student Worker oversees the daily food operations at the James Madison University location. This role involves supervising team members, managing food service schedules, and ensuring that the department follows health and safety regulations. You will balance operational tasks with staff mentorship to maintain an efficient and safe work environment.
What you'll do#
- Create and maintain staff work schedules and production records.
- Direct daily activities and ensure food is prepared according to specifications.
- Supervise and evaluate employees to support team growth and morale.
- Manage weekly inventory and prepare orders as needed.
- Maintain a sanitary department in compliance with health codes and safety standards.
- Train and mentor other food service workers.
- Cover shifts for absent employees when necessary.
- Track equipment maintenance and perform preventative checks.
- Coordinate catering events and assist with cashier duties as required.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at the Aramark location.
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform basic arithmetic.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and resolve interpersonal situations.
- Completion of a sanitation course before or during the first year of employment.
- Knowledge of how to operate a cost-effective program.

- Compensation: $19.50 per hour.
- Availability: Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends for catered events.
