About the role#
The Student Worker Lead supervises, trains, and manages food operations at the James Madison University location. This role ensures that food is prepared, stored, and served according to safety and quality standards while maintaining an efficient and sanitary environment. You will support the management team by overseeing daily activities, inventory, and staff performance.
What you'll do#
- Produce and maintain work schedules and prepare production records.
- Supervise and evaluate staff to promote teamwork, efficiency, and growth.
- Monitor food production to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to department policies.
- Maintain a sanitary department in compliance with health and safety codes.
- Manage inventory levels and prepare orders to ensure accurate production.
- Train and mentor other food service workers.
- Attend staff meetings and maintain clear communication with the team.
- Assist with catering events, including occasional nights and weekends.
- Perform equipment maintenance checks and recommend replacements when necessary.
- Fill in for absent employees as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at the Aramark location.
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal instructions.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and resolve interpersonal situations.
- Completion of a sanitation course either before or during your first year.
- Knowledge of operating an efficient, cost-effective program.
