About the role#
As a Product Manager Intern at Appian, you will join our university cohort to work within a small team of engineers. You will move beyond theory to help build features for our AI-Powered Process Automation platform. This is a 10-week, full-time summer program based at our headquarters in McLean, Virginia. You will be embedded with an engineering squad to deliver real-world software.
What you'll do#
- Own the Agile Backlog: Manage backlog prioritization, feature sizing, and sprint planning.
- Drive Collaborative Discovery: Analyze technical specifications and gather feedback through design sessions, UX reviews, and usability mockups.
- Define Product Roadmaps: Partner with senior leaders to structure software roadmaps that balance strategic goals with feature delivery.
- Practice Stakeholder Negotiation: Use data to navigate conflicting stakeholder demands and developer constraints.
- Conduct Impact Analysis: Monitor post-launch usability metrics and track user success to ensure releases meet customer needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- You must be returning to school after the Summer 2027 internship.
- Proven fluency in AI and LLMs, including both strategic development and hands-on application.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for the full 10-week duration.
- Prior experience in a technical internship or a portfolio of significant personal or academic projects.

- Location: McLean, Virginia.
- Modality: This is an on-site role. Interns are expected to be in the office 5 days a week.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $50.00 per hour.
