About the role#
As an Information Security Engineer Intern, you will contribute to live security operations, cloud architecture defense, and compliance automation. You will work alongside industry experts to gain hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, automated governance, and enterprise threat analysis.
What you'll do#
- Execute continuous monitoring activities to ensure alignment with internal security controls and compliance standards.
- Identify, design, and implement automated processes for internal and external security reviews.
- Assess security risks, emerging vulnerability trends, and technical requirements across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments.
- Partner with cross-functional technical teams to translate complex security concepts into actionable strategies.
- Assist in evaluating risk profiles to support the global information security program.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
- Must be returning to school following the completion of the Summer 2027 internship.
- Ability to commit to a full-time 40-hour work week for the 10-week summer program.
- Proven fluency in AI and LLMs, including both strategic development and hands-on application.

- This role is based on-site at the Appian headquarters in McLean, Virginia.
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- Appian will not provide sponsorship for employment authorization for this position.
