About the role#
This internship in the OMNI Nut department focuses on machining and manufacturing processes. You will gain experience with metal and plastic machining while learning how to use standard measuring tools. The role involves working under supervision in our Milford facility.
What you'll do#
- Load raw materials and unload finished parts.
- Run multiple machines at the same time.
- Inspect your own work and parts produced by your coworkers.
- Use measurement tools like snap gages, digital calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
- Operate specific machines within the department.
- Access and use QMS, MAX, and SPC databases.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, such as topping off lubricants.
- Clean equipment, remove chips, and maintain your work area.
- Follow quality and safety standards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Handle additional tasks assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Completion of at least one year of college-level engineering or pre-engineering coursework.
- A basic understanding of how machining works.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
- Ability to use AI tools to improve productivity, quality, and decision-making, including evaluating AI outputs.
