About the role#
As a Data Engineering intern, you will join the Data Product Services department. You will help build transformation tables for enterprise analytical reporting. This program runs for 10 to 14 weeks, starting between mid and late May and ending in August. You will work on projects that impact our business, customers, and communities while gaining exposure to different areas of our company.
What you'll do#
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy data-driven applications.
- Build data pipelines by supporting Python ETL frameworks using cloud services.
- Ensure pipeline reliability by developing pytest test suites for transformation and integration logic.
- Manage infrastructure by configuring and maintaining Terraform modules.
- Automate testing and deployment of ETL processes using GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for platforms like Google BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Amazon Redshift.
- Develop and automate data quality checks.
- Document technical work with architecture diagrams and runbooks.
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback.
- Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches to changing situations.
What you'll need#
- Current student status at an accredited 4-year college or university.
- Pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Graduation date of August 2027 or later (preference for August 2028 or later).
- Hands-on Python programming experience, specifically for ETL workflows.
- Understanding of database internals like partitioning, indexes, and SQL optimization.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Docker, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
