About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in New Albany, Ohio. You will work on-site five days a week. This role focuses on using computer-aided drafting software to create and update 3D inventory parts, assemblies, and 2D electrical drawings. You will gain experience that builds a foundation for your future career in engineering design.
What you'll do#
- Create, revise, and maintain engineering and record drawings and sketches.
- Support the maintenance of facilities and equipment documents, including construction and property records.
- Gather project information from field notes, verbal communication, vendor catalogs, technical manuals, and site visits.
- Perform mathematical calculations required for your assigned tasks.
- Use computer-aided design software, including AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, and Vault.
- Read vendor prints, shop drawings, and equipment operating instructions to incorporate into your work.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior in line with corporate policies.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year toward an associate degree in drafting, CAD, or a related field like civil, structural, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Familiarity with conventional drafting symbols and methods.
- The ability to distinguish colors.

- Location: New Albany, Ohio.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Compensation: Pay ranges from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour based on education hours, plus paid AEP-recognized holidays and access to a 401(k) account.
- Physical demands: This is a sedentary role requiring the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
