About the role#
Alcon is looking for interns to join our 2027 Summer Internship Program. You will work on real-world projects, build technical skills, and collaborate with professionals across the company. This internship offers coaching and mentoring to help you develop your career while contributing to our work in eye care.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate hazard detection while driving through different intraocular-lens models and under glare conditions.
- Study relationships between contrast sensitivity and visual acuity and optical-quality measures such as modulation transfer function.
- Design and conduct laboratory studies using wavefront sensors, vision simulators, and psychophysical testing systems.
- Support advanced metrology through instrument design, testing, qualification, image processing, and data analysis.
- Apply optical imaging, wavefront sensing, optical coherence tomography, and interferometric techniques to ophthalmic-product research.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to the internship and at least one additional semester following the program.
- Pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree in optics, optical engineering, optometry, vision science, imaging, physics, or a related major.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0.
- Ability to commit to a 10-12 week, full-time summer internship.

- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
- Positions are available in Fort Worth, Texas; Lake Forest, California; Johns Creek, Georgia; Houston, Texas; and Goleta, California.
