Jr. Project Coordinator Co-op

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid co-op position based in Ontario, Canada, supporting the ONxpress Civil Joint Venture. The role involves working on the modernization and modification of the regional rail infrastructure. This position requires on-site work and offers the opportunity to visit project sites during major construction activities.

What you'll do#

• Support planning for Major Track Closures and other construction activities, including the development of scheduling and staging plans.
• Assist with project management, procurement, and risk management tasks.
• Coordinate with internal and external teams, specialists, architects, engineers, and vendors.
• Track and report on productivity, costs, and project progress to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Provide data and cost reports to management, including support for month-end reconciliations.
• Perform quantity take-offs and integrate plans and schedules.
• Manage administrative documentation, maintain project files, and submit invoicing.
• Learn and implement safe systems of work and railway operating practices.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Engineering Technologist, or Construction Technology diploma, degree, or post-grad certificate program.
• Eligibility to complete an 8–12 month co-op term.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and adapt to a flexible schedule.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
• Prior experience in construction, project controls, or the railway industry is considered an asset.
