Co-op, Estimator

About the role#

Reporting to the Lead Estimator or Estimating Manager, the Co-op Estimator supports the delivery of accurate and timely cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for assigned projects. This role involves working on-site to assist with the full lifecycle of project bidding and estimation.

What you'll do#

• Analyze project documents, specifications, proposals, and addendums to prepare for pricing.
• Assist with RFP and General Contract tender submissions, as well as prequalification submissions, RFQs, and RFIs.
• Prepare quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
• Research and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for project estimates.
• Aid in the creation of estimates for bid submissions, including labor, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
• Attend site visits and provide technical support to field staff as needed.
• Collect data for key performance indicator reports and maintain project files and correspondence.
• Coordinate scope changes and ensure compliance with risk management policies.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Civil, Construction, Electrical, or Business diploma or degree program.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and contract documents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and estimating software.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting or reporting principles is considered an asset.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.
