Co-op, Assistant Coordinator, EHS

About the role#

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking an Assistant Coordinator for the EHS team for a Summer 2026 co-op term. This full-time, paid position is based on-site in Cambridge, Ontario. You will support the EHS team in maintaining safety standards, documentation, and reporting across construction projects.

What you'll do#

• Provide operational support and resources to the EHS team.
• Assist with the input, completion, and tracking of project accident and incident reports.
• Coordinate and deliver site employee safety meetings.
• Conduct in-field behavioral-based observations (BBOs) and assist with site inspections and walk-downs.
• Maintain and upload safety documentation for auditing purposes.
• Assist with administrative tasks for site orientations and coordinate the distribution of PPE.
• Provide feedback to the Safety Manager regarding inspection status and program improvements.
• Support the setup of new work areas by providing necessary reporting templates and documentation.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a university or college degree or diploma program in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Human Resources, Nursing, Health Administration, or a related field.
• Previous experience in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• A valid G driver's license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in report preparation.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal direction and manage multiple deadlines.
• Knowledge of construction site safety requirements and provincial legislation is considered an asset.
• Ability to obtain OPG security clearance.
