Co-op, Estimator

About the role#

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking a Co-op Estimator for a 12-month work term during Summer 2026. Reporting to the Lead Estimator or Estimating Manager, this role supports the delivery of accurate cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for infrastructure projects. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.

What you'll do#

• Analyze project documents, specifications, proposals, and addendums to prepare for pricing.
• Assist with RFP and General Contract tender submissions, as well as prequalification submissions, RFQ’s, and RFI’s.
• Prepare quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
• Research and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for project estimates.
• Aid in the creation of estimates for bid submissions, including labor, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
• Attend site visits and provide technical support to field staff.
• Maintain estimating data systems, project files, and correspondence.
• Collect data for reports on key performance indicators and coordinate scope changes as required.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Civil, Construction, Electrical, or Business diploma or degree program.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
• Strong computer skills, specifically in MS Excel, Word, Project, and estimating software.
• Knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting or reporting principles is considered an asset.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel as required.
