Co-op Engineering Student

About the role#

Aecon Group Inc. is offering Co-op Engineering Student positions within the Civil West division. These roles provide hands-on experience in heavy civil construction, focusing on project management, resource allocation, scheduling, and cost control. This is a full-time, paid, on-site opportunity for the Summer 2026 term.

What you'll do#

• Conduct site audits and analysis, providing regular reports to project staff and stakeholders.
• Assist Field Engineers and Superintendents with daily operational tasks.
• Perform quantity tracking, productivity analysis, and quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
• Monitor project progress and assist in preparing job cost reports and month-end reconciliations.
• Provide technical support to field staff, craft workers, and subcontractors.
• Assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of engineering drawings, project documentation, and bill of materials.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments.
• Maintain project files and correspondence.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a university or technical college program in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a strong work ethic.
• Previous experience in the construction industry is considered a strong asset.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
