About the role#
The Women's Rights Project at the ACLU is looking for a legal intern for the Winter 2027 term. This position is based out of our New York City office and offers both remote and hybrid options. The role is unpaid and designed for students seeking academic credit through their law school.
What you'll do#
Interns assist our team with litigation, policy advocacy, and communications campaigns. Your daily responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal and policy research.
- Drafting legal memoranda.
- Researching prospects for new litigation, including factual and legal claims.
- Drafting materials for public education.
- Tracking and analyzing legislative bills.
What you'll need#
We are looking for students who have completed at least one year of law school or are currently enrolled in an LLM or SJD program. You must be based in the United States for the duration of the internship.
- Excellent research and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Initiative to see projects through to completion.
- A commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, social justice, and gender justice.
Location & details#
- Location: New York City, New York (Remote or Hybrid).
- Time Commitment: 10, 15, or 20 hours per week for 12 consecutive weeks.
- Start Dates: January 11th or January 25th, 2027.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship for course credit only.
