About the role#
The ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project seeks a legal intern for the Winter 2027 term. This position is based in our New York office and operates on a hybrid schedule. This internship is unpaid and offered for course credit only. Applicants must be currently matriculated law students who have completed at least one year of law school before the program begins.
What you'll do#
Interns support our litigation teams on a variety of matters related to reproductive rights. You will gain experience through the following tasks:
- Conduct legal research and complex legal analysis.
- Draft memoranda, motions, declarations, and legal pleadings.
- Provide general assistance on active litigation, including cite-checking.
- Support the development of new litigation projects.
- Assist with fact development and background research.
- Track and analyze relevant legislative bills.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of law school prior to the start date.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong oral communication skills with the ability to explain complicated legal issues.
- Ability to balance multiple assignments and work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated commitment to public interest law, civil rights, and social justice.
- Must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
