About the role#
As a Mechatronics Intern, you will support plant controls and automation teams in developing, maintaining, and improving automated manufacturing systems. This role provides hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and motion control systems within a production environment. You will work alongside engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment, optimize processes, and assist with projects that improve efficiency and productivity.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development, programming, and troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, servo, motion control, and robotic systems.
- Work with the Controls Engineering team to support and improve plant automation systems.
- Monitor automation equipment performance and address issues that impact production.
- Perform root cause analysis on equipment and process problems to assist in corrective actions.
- Support the development and execution of solutions for automation challenges.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to improve system reliability.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, and validation activities for automation projects.
- Document automation system updates, troubleshooting activities, and project improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Computer Engineering.
- An anticipated graduation date of 2028.
- Knowledge of industrial automation platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent systems.
- Ability to work with industrial robotic systems, including Fanuc, ABB, Universal Robots, KUKA, or similar platforms.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

- This position is based in Ridgway, Pennsylvania.
- The role is on-site and part-time.
