About the role#
This internship is a hands-on position at the VMRD Richland Research Farm. You will join the animal care team to support vaccine and pharmaceutical research for both livestock and companion animals. This is a full-time, on-site role that runs throughout the summer of 2027. You will work Monday through Friday, with some early mornings required.
What you'll do#
- Perform daily husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, and cleaning animal areas.
- Assist the team in all aspects of animal research studies.
- Learn and apply biosecurity and biosafety practices to keep the environment safe.
- Follow strict animal welfare guidelines.
- Help with routine data collection and maintain accurate documentation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a Bachelor's degree program in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with animals and a genuine interest in the field.
- A great attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- The ability to commute to the Richland facility daily.
- Preference is given to candidates who can lift up to 50 pounds.
