This is a mechanical engineering internship focused on nuclear power plant upgrades and new construction projects. You will work under the supervision of senior engineering staff to apply standard engineering methods, techniques, and procedures to solve technical problems. This role requires a balance of office-based design work and field-based site visits.
What you'll do#
- Perform various engineering and design activities for power plant projects.
- Assist with technical calculations, system modifications, and design development.
- Collaborate with project teams to evaluate plant conditions and develop design changes that improve performance, safety, and reliability.
- Conduct equipment walk-downs in industrial environments, which includes climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined or hazardous spaces.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety processes.
What you'll need#
- BS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively while working on multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to pass security and drug screenings to maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is desirable.
