About the role#
This internship involves performing engineering and design tasks for power plant upgrades and new projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff. You will work within project teams to evaluate conditions, develop design changes, and improve plant performance, safety, and reliability. This position requires a mix of office work and travel to client sites.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering and design activities using standard methods and techniques.
- Assist with calculations, modifications, and project designs.
- Collaborate with other engineers to evaluate plant conditions.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and processes.
- Conduct equipment walk downs in industrial plant environments, including climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined or hazardous spaces.
What you'll need#
- BS in mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles for problem solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to pass security and drug screenings to maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is desirable.
