The Medical Advocate Internship provides hands-on experience in crisis recovery and support. Interns serve as a source of comfort and assistance for survivors of sexual assault, working alongside veteran advocates and partner organizations to provide essential care.
What you'll do#
- Provide 24-hour medical advocacy at hospital emergency rooms and police districts.
- Offer support and comfort to survivors during hospital examinations, evidence collection, and police interviews.
- Maintain a non-judgmental and supportive attitude toward all survivors.
- Complete 40+ hours of mandatory Crisis Intervention Training.
- Collaborate with veteran advocates and sister organizations.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to commit to a one-year term of service.
- Access to a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license.
- A mobile phone for communication.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule.
- Preferred academic background in Psychology, Public Health, or Nursing.
