Medical Advocate Internship

About the role#

The Medical Advocate Internship provides hands-on experience in crisis recovery and support. Interns serve as a source of comfort and assistance for survivors of sexual assault, working alongside veteran advocates and partner organizations to provide essential care.

What you'll do#

• Provide 24-hour medical advocacy at hospital emergency rooms and police districts.
• Offer support and comfort to survivors during hospital examinations, evidence collection, and police interviews.
• Maintain a non-judgmental and supportive attitude toward all survivors.
• Complete 40+ hours of mandatory Crisis Intervention Training.
• Collaborate with veteran advocates and sister organizations.

What you'll need#

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to commit to a one-year term of service.
• Access to a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license.
• A mobile phone for communication.
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule.
• Preferred academic background in Psychology, Public Health, or Nursing.
