About the role#
Xcimer Energy Corporation is hiring interns for the Summer 2027 program. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Denver, Colorado, to build hardware and software for inertial fusion energy systems. You will be paired with an industry expert mentor to solve technical challenges over the course of this 12-week program.
What you'll do#
Your specific tasks depend on your background and interests. You will contribute to the development of our commercial fusion power plant through:
- Mechanical design and hardware development
- Mechanical and thermal analysis using finite element analysis
- Systems, manufacturing, and electrical engineering
- Control systems and computational software engineering
- Nuclear and optical engineering
- Plasma physics and pulsed power engineering
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD program in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, nuclear engineering, or a related field
- Technical experience gained outside of the classroom, such as personal projects, lab research, or prior internships
- Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and simulation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work full-time on-site for the full 12 weeks
- A genuine interest in fusion energy

- Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee or asylee status.
