About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work on-site at our Lexington or Louisville, Kentucky offices. The program lasts 12 weeks, beginning May 17, 2027. You will gain hands-on experience in transportation infrastructure by working alongside senior engineering staff on active projects. Please note that we do not provide relocation or housing assistance for this position.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn fundamental principles of Civil and Roadway Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Adhere to company policies regarding ethical decision-making and workplace safety.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate program in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- A clear interest in Roadway Design and Transportation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Masters or PhD program in Civil Engineering.
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office, CADD, GIS, Adobe, or Bluebeam.
- Preferred: Prior internship experience or campus leadership involvement.
