About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship within the Power and Energy team for Summer 2027. You will work alongside senior staff to gain hands-on experience with real projects. The program spans 12 weeks, starting May 17, 2027. Please note that this position does not provide relocation or housing assistance.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to build technical and professional skills.
- Learn basic principles of structural engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Help collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct and exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Civil or Structural Engineering undergraduate program with a graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A demonstrated interest in structural engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Competent communication skills and the ability to take direction from leadership.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, and spreadsheets.
- A proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Experience with structural and foundation design software such as Risa3D, STAAD.Pro, or L-Pile is preferred.
- Experience with calculation software like Mathcad is a plus.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.

- Work modality: On-site.
- Locations: Freeport, ME; Hallowell, ME; Syracuse, NY; Ann Arbor, MI; or New York, NY.
- Pay range: $22.17 to $32.22 per hour.
