About the role#
WSP is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. This full-time, paid internship focuses on structural engineering for buildings and building-like structures. The program lasts 12 weeks, beginning May 17, 2027. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects and gain experience through mentorship and networking opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical and professional skills.
- Learn basic principles of structural engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise ethical decision-making and adhere to company policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program in Structural or Civil Engineering (or related field) in the United States.
- Anticipated graduation date of January 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Demonstrated interest in structural engineering and a track record of workplace safety.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Revit, SAP2000, or ETABS is preferred.
- Coursework or project experience in building structural design, including gravity and lateral systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from leadership.
- Authorization to work in the United States.

- This is an on-site position.
- Available locations: Denver, CO; Seattle, WA; Tacoma, WA; San Diego, CA; Portland, OR; and Virginia Beach, VA.
