About the role#
Whispering Pines Animal Hospital offers a flexible externship program for DVM students. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help prepare you for clinical work after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of a mentor doctor.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Assist in surgery and the management of various medical cases.
- Provide wellness care to patients.
- Develop client communication skills and refine technical abilities.
- Produce accurate medical records and SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- A professional and ethical approach to patient care and team interaction.
- Familiarity with the Veterinary Practice Act regarding the scope of student duties.
Location & details#
- Location: Greenville, Pennsylvania.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling, with rotations typically lasting two to eight weeks.
- Compensation: A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
