About the role#
This SkillBridge internship is designed for transitioning military service members to gain civilian work experience during their final 180 days of active-duty service. Participants train under experienced structures technicians in an FAA-certified repair station to develop skills in structural inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair. This role involves hands-on work on aircraft such as Gulfstream, Dassault Falcon, King Air, Cessna, Piper, and Pilatus. Please note that this program does not guarantee a job offer upon completion.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on general aviation aircraft.
- Execute structural repairs and modifications.
- Ensure proper care of customer property throughout all phases of work.
- Accurately complete required paperwork and work order details in the Corridor system.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow safety procedures and utilize support equipment safely.
What you'll need#
- Minimum of two years of experience in general or military aviation.
- Minimum of two years of experience performing structural repairs and modifications.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude, professional appearance, and demeanor.
- Airframe certification is preferred.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Ability to obtain an airport-issued security badge.
- Command approval for participation, with documentation provided at least 10 business days prior to the start date.
Location & details#
- Location: Boise, Idaho.
- Modality: On-site in an aircraft hangar environment.
- Commitment: Full-time (up to 40 hours per week).
- Physical requirements: Ability to climb, bend, crawl, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and 25 pounds overhead.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship for active-duty service members who continue to receive military compensation and benefits.
