About the role#
This internship is for transitioning service members only. It is an approved SkillBridge program designed for those in their final 180 days of active-duty service. You will work up to 40 hours per week in an FAA certified Repair Station. You will learn from experienced technicians how to inspect, test, repair, and maintain aircraft. This program provides hands-on experience with models such as Gulfstream, Dassault Falcon, King Air, Cessna, Piper, and Pilatus. Completion of this internship does not guarantee a job offer, though you may be evaluated for full-time roles afterward.
What you'll do#
- Perform and assist with routine maintenance and inspections on general aviation aircraft.
- Protect customer property throughout all phases of your work.
- Complete required paperwork and work order details in Corridor.
- Keep your work area clean and organized.
- Follow safety procedures and use support equipment in a safe manner.
What you'll need#
- Minimum of two years of experience in general or military aircraft maintenance.
- Advanced troubleshooting abilities and broad knowledge of aircraft systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Airframe and Powerplant certifications are highly preferred, or you should be actively working to obtain them within six months of your start date.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Ability to obtain an airport-issued security badge.
- Command approval for participation, provided at least 10 business days before your start date.
Location & details#
- Location: Boise, Idaho.
- Modality: On-site in an aircraft hangar environment.
- Physical requirements: Ability to climb, bend, crawl, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull. You must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, or 25 pounds overhead.
- Note: This is an unpaid internship for active-duty service members who continue to receive military compensation and benefits.
