About the role#
This internship provides mechanical engineering students with hands-on experience in HVAC and building systems design. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain exposure to the full lifecycle of MEP projects, from initial concept through construction. You will use BIM tools such as Revit and AutoCAD to support project teams and learn how an MEP consulting firm operates.
What you'll do#
- Assist project teams with mechanical design preparation and execution.
- Support design and administration teams with documentation and coordination.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and system layout planning.
- Design mechanical systems including supply, return, exhaust, and transfer air.
- Perform ductwork sizing and layout in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Gain exposure to refrigeration cycles, chillers, and condensers.
- Attend site visits with engineers to observe real-world project coordination.
- Contribute to administrative and operational tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of Thermodynamics.
- Current enrollment in or completion of Heat Transfer.
- Current enrollment in or completion of Fluid Mechanics.
- Current enrollment in or completion of HVAC Systems Design.
- Current enrollment in or completion of Engineering Graphics or CAD coursework.
