About the role#
This position provides academic and personal counseling to a cohort of approximately 200 medical students. You will support these students from their initial matriculation through graduation, reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Career Development.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual and group counseling focused on emotional health, academic success, career advising, and professional development.
- Develop, launch, and evaluate health and wellness programming tailored to medical student needs.
- Represent the Office of Student Affairs and Career Development on university and School of Medicine committees.
- Engage in regional and national activities hosted by the AAMC.
What you'll need#
- A Master's degree in counseling and guidance, student personnel, social work, or psychology.
- At least three years of clinical work experience in a mental health field.
- Three years of experience working with students.
- Knowledge of mental health and human services referral agencies in the tri-county area.
- Ability to manage crisis situations, conflict resolution, and the psychological needs of young adults.
- Experience with medical students is preferred, and research skills are highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively, remain objective, and adapt to changing needs.
