As a Social Work Intern at Wayne State University Physician Group (UPG), you will work under the direction of a licensed social worker to provide biopsychosocial assessments and clinical interventions. This role involves delivering both individual and group therapy, as well as providing essential case management to help patients access support services and adhere to their treatment plans.
What you'll do#
- Provide mental health and chemical dependency treatment, including assessments and clinical services.
- Coordinate patient referrals for substance abuse treatment, housing, and social services such as Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, SSD, and transportation assistance.
- Develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients to identify and address their specific circumstances.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in patient clinical records to meet licensure and accreditation standards.
- Participate in regular case conferences to maintain clinical supervision.
- Engage in quality management programs, ensuring adherence to safety, accessibility, and infection control standards.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor of Social Work degree.
- Strong knowledge of addiction medicine principles and mental health clinical practices.
- Familiarity with community resources and referral agencies.
- Proficiency in interviewing patients to elicit necessary information and foster cooperation.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and various modes of service delivery is preferred.
