About the role#
As a Social Work Intern, you will work under the direction of a licensed social worker to provide biopsychosocial assessments and treatment interventions. You will support patients through individual and group therapy formats, coordinate care, and facilitate access to necessary support services.
What you'll do#
- Provide mental health and chemical dependency treatment, including assessments and clinical services.
- Coordinate patient referrals for substance abuse treatment, housing, and social services such as Medicaid, Medicare, SSI, SSD, and work therapy.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in patient clinical records according to clinic policies.
- Participate in case conferences to maintain required levels of supervision.
- Contribute to quality management programs and adhere to safety, accessibility, and infection control standards.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor of Social Work degree.
- Knowledge of addiction medicine principles and mental health clinical practices.
- Familiarity with community resources and referral agencies.
- Strong interviewing skills to elicit information and foster cooperation from patients.
- Experience or training with diverse patient populations and service delivery models in mental health and chemical dependency is preferred.
