    About the role#

    The Sustaining Engineer Co-Op program offers an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support the development, improvement, testing, and documentation of products used in commercial, residential, industrial, and municipal water systems. This role provides hands-on experience in product design, validation, and manufacturing.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in the design and development of new products and product improvements.
    • Create and update engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and test reports.
    • Support engineering analyses to evaluate product concepts, performance, and feasibility.
    • Participate in product testing and validation activities, including data collection and documentation of results.
    • Assist with comparative product testing and evaluation.
    • Use 3D CAD software to develop and revise product designs.
    • Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to simulate product performance.
    • Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.
    • Organize engineering data, test results, and project documentation.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Product Management teams.
    • Assist engineering staff with technical problem-solving and project execution.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
    • Familiarity with engineering design principles and product development processes.
    • Experience with 3D CAD software, with Autodesk Inventor experience preferred.
    • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T concepts.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
    • Interest in product design, manufacturing, and water technologies.
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
    • Prior internship, co-op, project, or laboratory experience is preferred.
    • Exposure to engineering analysis tools like FEA or CFD and familiarity with manufacturing processes or water systems are considered assets.
