About the role#
This internship with the Applied Research team provides technical and business support for ongoing product development. You will work on the development and launch of a new commercial electric water heating product. This role offers hands-on experience in laboratory testing, mechanical and electrical systems, and product development processes.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research to support the development and launch of a new commercial electric water heating product.
- Evaluate designs for compliance with specifications and conduct comparative evaluations.
- Develop laboratory and field test programs to validate product performance.
- Work with engineers in a laboratory environment to conduct testing using instrumentation and measurement equipment.
- Support certification to applicable safety standards.
- Document test procedures, analyze data, and summarize results.
- Gain experience using CAD tools and business software.
- Maintain accurate research and testing documentation.
- Summarize and present internship learning, project results, and experiences to the leadership team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, including the ability to understand electrical schematics and mechanical systems.
- Data analysis skills and experience identifying and analyzing problems to make recommendations.
- Commitment to integrity, respect, and accountability.
- Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
- Ability to successfully establish employment eligibility and complete background checks.

- Location: Blauvelt, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $22-$24 per hour.
