About the role#
The Design Engineer Co-Op program offers students the chance to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support the development, improvement, testing, and documentation of products used in residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal water systems. This is a full-time, paid position running from January through June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and development of new products and product improvements.
- Create and update engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and test reports.
- Support engineering analysis to evaluate product concepts, performance, and feasibility.
- Participate in product testing and validation activities, including data collection and documentation of results.
- Assist with comparative product testing and evaluation.
- Utilize 3D CAD software to develop and revise product designs.
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives.
- Organize engineering data, test results, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Product Management teams.
- Assist engineering staff with technical problem-solving and project execution.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or a related discipline).
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing with a preferred minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Familiarity with engineering design principles and product development processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD software, with Autodesk Inventor preferred.
- Familiarity with DAQ systems, Python programming, and electro-mechanical devices.
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
- Preferred experience includes prior internships, laboratory work, engineering analysis tools (FEA, CFD), and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, or water systems.
Location & details#
- Location: North Andover, Massachusetts.
- Modality: Hybrid (in-office Monday through Wednesday; remote Thursday and Friday).
- Compensation: $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.
