About the role#
Wagman is looking for a Civil Engineer Intern to join our Heavy Civil team for the summer of 2027. You will report to field supervision and work alongside our engineering team to support construction projects. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Midlothian, Virginia. Because this role involves working on active construction sites, it is a safety-sensitive position. You may be required to travel depending on the specific site assignment.
What you'll do#
You will support the engineering team with daily construction duties. Your tasks will include:
- Preparing work plans and tracking field production quantities.
- Performing quantity takeoffs for concrete and earthwork operations.
- Coordinating subcontractor work and procuring materials or equipment.
- Updating project schedules and generating progress reports.
- Managing document control tracking and processing.
- Investigating reported incidents and recommending solutions.
- Preparing detailed requisitions for services and materials.
- Interpreting plans, detail sheets, and specifications for craft supervision.
- Reviewing shop drawings, drafting RFIs, and assisting with submittals.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
- You can take and follow instructions while working independently.
- You have strong communication skills.
- You are able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
- You have acceptable corrected vision and hearing.
- You are comfortable working on uneven surfaces and in various weather conditions, including wet, muddy, cold, or humid environments.
