About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world manufacturing projects. You will work alongside professionals to support the automation of processes at our Shippensburg facility. This role focuses on improving material flow and manufacturing efficiency through hands-on involvement in technical projects.
What you'll do#
- Identify and evaluate opportunities to automate manual and repetitive tasks in manufacturing and engineering.
- Support budget tracking, cost-benefit analyses, and ROI assessments for automation projects.
- Assist with tooling design, 3D modeling, drawing updates, and engineering documentation using CAD software.
- Help implement digital manufacturing solutions by collecting data and building dashboards.
- Participate in the planning, testing, validation, and deployment of automation projects.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and IT teams.
- Present project progress, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical, industrial, weld engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least 30 credit hours.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75.
- Full-time enrollment in school throughout the internship.
- A basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and process optimization principles.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with CAD software.

- Compensation: Paid position with an hourly range of $17.00 - $46.00, depending on factors including academic standing and location.
