About the role#
Verdantas is seeking an Ecological Intern for the Fall 2026 term at our Tampa East location. This position offers hands-on experience working alongside ecologists, environmental scientists, and project managers on diverse environmental projects. This is a paid, full-time internship.
What you'll do#
- Collect data alongside field teams.
- Support wetland vegetation monitoring and wetland delineations.
- Assist with listed species surveys and gopher tortoise relocations.
- Help develop project deliverables.
- Traverse wetlands and work in various field conditions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Biology, Economics, Environmental Engineering, or a related natural science field.
- Working knowledge of southeastern United States ecosystems.
- Experience identifying plants, specifically wetland species, and wildlife listed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission or the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
- Availability to work at least one day per week for a minimum of 8 hours, including potential early mornings or irregular schedules.
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally, with or without an accommodation.
