About the role#
The Corporate Risk Management Actuarial Internship at Venerable is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2027. You will work within our Risk and Finance teams to support data initiatives and gain exposure to variable annuity products. This role includes study hours and financial support for actuarial exams.
What you'll do#
- Build an understanding of variable annuity product features and primary risk drivers.
- Assist with investment and market data initiatives, including database maintenance and model risk analytics.
- Use data analysis tools to summarize extracts and interpret trends.
- Visualize data using Excel, including the development of formulas and VBA macros.
- Review current business processes to suggest improvements and automation to reduce human error.
- Create PowerPoint presentations and memorandums to share analysis with team members and senior management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program such as Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, or Economics.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and solid technical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior internship or co-op experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with programming languages like R, Python, VBA, or SQL is a plus.
- Note: Candidates requiring sponsorship for U.S. work authorization are not eligible.
Location & details#
- Location: West Chester, Pennsylvania.
- Schedule: This is a hybrid role. During the summer, employees work in the office two days per week, typically Tuesday and Wednesday.
