About the role#
The University of Utah is looking for a student to join our team as a Vehicle Operator. This is a part-time position that involves driving shuttle buses and smaller passenger vehicles to support the campus community. You will help maintain transit services along fixed routes and provide scheduled A.D.A. transport. We provide paid CDL training and testing for this role.
What you'll do#
- Provide reliable transit service to students and staff.
- Load and secure passengers using wheelchair lifts and tie-downs.
- Inspect your vehicle daily for safety items, damage, or mechanical failures.
- Complete the Daily Driver Vehicle Inspection Report in writing.
- Arrive in uniform 15 minutes before your shift starts.
- Follow shut down procedures, including cleaning buses and emptying garbage.
- Instruct others of a lesser classification on how to operate heavy vehicles when needed.
- Perform general clean-up services to keep vehicles in good condition.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current University of Utah student.
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- You must pass a background check and a drug screen.
- Previous bus driving experience is preferred.
- Strong familiarity with connecting UTA and TRAX routes is a plus.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Location & details#
- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah (On-site).
- Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week, with varying shifts.
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
