About the role#
The Foundation Intern provides administrative, operational, and event support for the UMC Foundation and the Children's Miracle Network at UMC Children's Hospital. You will assist with daily office tasks, community engagement, and fundraising projects that support our philanthropic mission. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit operations and community relations while you work directly with Foundation staff, donors, and corporate partners.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and activities.
- Manage administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and organizing correspondence.
- Handle event logistics including material assembly, supply preparation, setup, and breakdown.
- Support donor stewardship by preparing thank-you letters, gifts, and recognition materials.
- Travel locally to run errands, deliver materials, and assist with corporate partner visits.
- Provide general support for special projects and daily department needs.
- Represent the Foundation and Children's Miracle Network in a professional and positive manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, preferably in marketing, communications, business, public relations, or nonprofit management.
- Interest in fundraising, event planning, philanthropy, or community engagement.
- Previous experience in administrative, customer service, or volunteer roles.
- Reliable access to a personal vehicle for local travel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Flexibility to assist with occasional evening and weekend events.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
