About the role#
Ulteig is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our transportation design team for Summer 2027. This role supports planning, traffic engineering, and roadway design projects for public-sector clients throughout Colorado and the surrounding regions. You will work alongside planners, engineers, and project managers to move transportation improvements from concept to reality. This internship offers hands-on experience in both office and field environments.
What you'll do#
- Support transportation planning, traffic engineering, and roadway design projects under the supervision of experienced professionals.
- Assist with the development of studies, technical memoranda, reports, exhibits, and engineering deliverables.
- Perform engineering calculations, data analysis, and research to support project teams.
- Develop figures, maps, plan sheets, and visualizations using industry-standard engineering and GIS software.
- Participate in project meetings, coordination efforts, and design reviews.
- Assist with field visits, existing-condition investigations, traffic data collection, or site assessments.
- Review agency standards and project requirements to incorporate them into deliverables.
- Maintain project files and take on increasing responsibility as your technical experience grows.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of introductory engineering coursework.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a geographically distributed team.
- Must be able to work full-time during Summer 2027.
- A current driver's license and a good driving record.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
