About the role#
Ulteig is looking for a Civil Engineer Intern to join the Surface Transportation team for the summer of 2027. This role offers a mix of construction observation and office-based design work. You will contribute to infrastructure projects while gaining practical experience in a consulting environment.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction observation duties on assigned projects.
- Coordinate on-site materials testing.
- Maintain records, construction quantities, checklists, daily reports, and documentation for construction administration projects.
- Communicate progress and questions from the field with senior design staff.
- Design, develop, implement, and analyze engineering systems.
- Prepare plans for grading, erosion control, traffic control, pavement marking, street lighting, underground utility, and pavement design.
- Develop plans and specifications that comply with state and municipality requirements.
- Perform work in both office and field settings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering.
- Ability to work full-time during Summer 2027.
- Ability to work in the Detroit Lakes, MN area.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Prior engineering internship experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D or Bentley Open Roads Designer is preferred.

- This internship is based on-site in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
- This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2027.
