About the role#
Ulteig is seeking CADD Technician Interns to join the Substation Department for Summer 2027. This position provides an opportunity to build drafting skills and gain experience in the utility and power sectors. You will work alongside engineers and designers to support project success through the development of construction drawings.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical drafting assistance for electrical substation projects.
- Assist in the development of construction drawings for substation protection, control, and physical design.
- Use AutoCAD to prepare plan sets, diagrams, and design documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and CAD technicians to ensure quality and consistency in drawing packages.
- Apply company standards and client requirements to project deliverables.
- Learn to read and interpret electrical drawings, layouts, and design specifications.
- Contribute to a team-oriented workflow and help meet project deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent completion of a two-year technical degree program in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
- Knowledge of MicroStation or Revit is a plus.
- Familiarity with redline or greenline drafting workflows is a plus.
- Knowledge or interest in electrical protection and control systems or substation physical design is beneficial.

- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- Work is on-site at one of our office locations: Fargo, ND; St. Paul, MN; Hiawatha, IA; Greenwood Village, CO; Austin, TX; Detroit Lakes, MN; Sioux Falls, SD; Boise, ID; or Billings, MT.
