About the role#
As a Social Work Intern at Parkwood Behavioral Health System, you will work alongside experienced therapists to provide care for patients. You will gain hands-on experience in a behavioral health and chemical dependency facility that serves adults, adolescents, and children.
What you'll do#
- Assist therapists in conducting therapeutic services for patients.
- Lead counseling sessions for individuals, families, and groups.
- Interview patients to develop their psychosocial history.
- Assess the therapeutic needs of individuals and their families.
- Create treatment objectives and write monthly treatment summaries.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and their families.
- Advocate for patients and families within the treatment team.
- Coordinate with outside agencies and individuals to manage discharge planning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s Degree program for social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to document assessments and treatment plans.
- Ability to communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams, managed care representatives, and patient families.
- Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics.
- Clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics and develop effective strategies.

- This position is located in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
- This is an on-site, unpaid internship.
- This role is full-time with a rolling term.
