This is a full-time, paid Mechanical Engineering internship for the Fall 2026 term (August–December). The role is based on-site in Syracuse, New York. You will support the engineering team by managing test systems, performing thermal analysis, and developing software routines for quality control.
What you'll do#
- Utilize and enhance existing analysis tools.
- Conduct testing as defined by Mechanical Engineers.
- Use LabVIEW and Matlab to control test systems and manage data collection and analysis.
- Implement new design elements to improve testing processes.
- Create software routines for quality control and enhance image analysis techniques.
- Perform thermal finite element analyses (FEA) and assist with general laboratory duties.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program.
- Completion of all core Mechanical Engineering courses, including Experimental Analysis, LabVIEW programming, and Matlab programming.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW, Matlab, MS Office, 3D CAD (Solidworks or Inventor), and FEA software (e.g., ANSYS).
- Experience with programming languages such as C#, Java, SQL, or C++.
- Strong interpersonal and cooperation skills with the ability to work independently.
- Desired coursework includes Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Design, Numerical Analysis/FEA, and Statics.
