About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Mechanical Engineering internship based in Syracuse, New York, for the Fall 2026 term (August through December). You will work on-site to support mechanical engineering projects through testing, data analysis, and software development.
What you'll do#
- Utilize and enhance existing analysis tools.
- Conduct testing as defined by mechanical engineers.
- Use LabVIEW and Matlab to control test systems and manage data collection and analysis.
- Enhance testing processes by implementing new design elements and programming.
- Create software routines for quality control and improve image analysis techniques.
- Perform thermal finite element analyses (FEA) and assist with general laboratory duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program.
- Completion of all core Mechanical Engineering courses, including Experimental Analysis, LabVIEW programming, and Matlab programming.
- Proficiency in LabVIEW, Matlab, MS Office, 3D CAD (Solidworks or Inventor), and FEA software (ANSYS or Solidworks).
- Programming experience in languages such as C#, Java, SQL, or C++.
- Ability to work independently and maintain strong interpersonal and cooperation skills.
- Completion of coursework in Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Design, Numerical Analysis, or Statics is preferred.
