About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience supporting artificial intelligence initiatives within our IT organization. You will apply your academic knowledge in a professional environment while learning how AI, automation, data analytics, and emerging technologies improve business processes. You will work alongside IT professionals to research, develop, test, and implement AI-driven solutions and innovation projects.
What you'll do#
- Research, evaluate, and document emerging AI technologies, tools, and industry trends.
- Assist in developing, testing, and implementing AI-powered solutions, automations, and business process improvements.
- Support Generative AI initiatives, including prompt development, experimentation, testing, and optimization.
- Assist with data collection, preparation, validation, and analysis to support AI and analytics projects.
- Create and maintain documentation, user guides, knowledge articles, and project materials.
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and identify opportunities for AI adoption.
- Support proof-of-concept projects involving AI, machine learning, automation, or intelligent assistants.
- Assist in evaluating AI outputs for quality, accuracy, usability, and business value.
- Participate in project meetings, brainstorming sessions, and innovation workshops.
- Communicate project updates, findings, recommendations, and technical concepts to team members and stakeholders.
- Follow established IT, cybersecurity, data privacy, and responsible AI practices and standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an associate’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and business needs.
- Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to explore emerging technologies and innovation.
- Strong interest in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, machine learning, automation, and digital transformation.
- Experience through coursework, personal projects, hackathons, research, or internships in Generative AI, Prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Machine Learning, Data analytics and visualization, or Software development.
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, JavaScript, or other programming languages.
- Exposure to Microsoft AI technologies, including Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI Service, Power Platform, or Power Automate.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub, APIs, cloud platforms (Azure preferred), and modern development practices.
- Understanding of data privacy, security, and responsible AI concepts.

- Role type: Full-time internship.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1, 2027, through August 6, 2027).
- Work modality: Hybrid (In-person at our Madison, Wisconsin office).
- Compensation: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour.
