About the role#
This internship focuses on automating repetitive HR operational tasks through the application of AI tools. You will be embedded within the HR team, reporting to the Senior Director of IT & Incubation, to design, prototype, and test functional solutions that streamline documentation, reporting, and communication workflows. This role requires a self-directed approach to identifying high-impact areas for automation and delivering tools that are ready for internal use.
What you'll do#
- Shadow HR team members to map current workflows and identify repetitive manual tasks.
- Rank identified tasks by effort-to-impact ratio and define a build roadmap.
- Develop internal HR tools and automations using approved enterprise instances of Microsoft 365 Copilot and Claude.
- Write, test, and refine AI-produced code in an iterative cycle while partnering with engineers for code reviews.
- Ensure all development uses synthetic or de-identified datasets to maintain data security.
- Provide regular progress updates to HR leadership and sponsors.
- Finalize tools by creating documentation that allows the HR team to maintain them independently.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using generative AI tools to build software.
- Current enrollment in or completion of a degree in a technical field, such as Data Science or Computer Science.
- Ability to work independently and own progress between check-ins.
- Strong judgment when handling sensitive and confidential organizational information.
- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with workflow-automation tools like Power Automate, Zapier, or Make is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, requiring at least 3 days per week onsite.
- Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.
- Employment Type: Full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
