AI & People Operations Intern

About the role#

This internship sits at the intersection of HR operations, software development, and AI tooling. You will be embedded with the HR team to build AI-powered tools that automate repetitive manual tasks, such as documentation, communications, reporting, and policy inquiries. This is a self-directed role where you will identify workflow improvements, define build roadmaps, and develop functional tools using approved enterprise AI software.

What you'll do#

• Shadow HR team members to map current workflows and identify high-impact, repetitive tasks.
• Define build roadmaps and conduct data-governance and threat-modeling reviews.
• Develop and test internal HR tools using approved instances of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, and other IT-approved platforms.
• Write, review, and refine AI-produced code in an iterative cycle, partnering with engineers for code reviews.
• Build and test exclusively using synthetic or de-identified datasets.
• Provide regular progress updates to HR leadership and sponsors.
• Finalize tools with documentation to ensure the HR team can independently operate and maintain them.
• Present findings and a 90-day execution plan to HR leadership.

What you'll need#

• Hands-on experience using generative AI tools to build software.
• Currently enrolled in or completed a degree in a technical field, such as Data Science or Computer Science.
• Ability to operate independently and own progress between check-ins.
• Strong judgment when handling sensitive and confidential organizational information.
• Ability to communicate effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with workflow-automation tools like Power Automate, Zapier, or Make is a plus.

• Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
• Work Modality: Hybrid (minimum of 3 days per week onsite).
• Employment Type: Full-time.
• Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.
