Student Imaging Extern - Surgical Services

About the role#

The Student Imaging Extern in Surgical Services supports the Imaging Services team by assisting with patient screening, positioning, and imaging. This is a contingent, part-time position where you will work under the supervision of a Registered Imaging Services Technologist. Incumbents may hold this position for a maximum of 18 months.

What you'll do#

• Screen patients for safety, including verifying patient identity, clinical history, and orders.
• Perform exams using proper techniques and views appropriate for the patient's condition.
• Complete patient documentation according to department and hospital policies.
• Review patient schedules to identify potential issues or incorrect orders.
• Maintain department supplies and notify personnel when restocking is needed.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
• Participate in training for medical record and radiology applications.

What you'll need#

• Completion of the first or second year of an accredited Imaging Services program.
• Currently enrolled in an Imaging Services program with at least 40% of the program completed.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
